What is Pilates?
Pilates is an exercise system that strengthens and stretches the whole body simultaneously, as such an extremely efficient practice. Core strength is the foundation of Pilates exercises. The focus is on quality of movement, rather than the amount of reps performed or weights lifted. This creates strength without bulking. Pilates works the body evenly, so no muscles are over or under-trained. Pilates helps correct muscle imbalances and prevent future injuries.

What I Do
Over the years Joyce’s work has been greatly influenced by other types of movement techniques such as Rolfing Movement and Yoga. She also can incorporate other technics like ELDOA, Myofascial Stretch (MFS) and Segmental Muscular Strengthening.
A Pilates or a movement session is specific to client’s need. It addresses each person postural and muscular imbalances and/or muscle repatterning if necessary. The work will be tailored to improve balance, reduce tightness, to increase mobility and flexibility, to increase overall strength as well as coordination. Small equipment and props are generally used to facilitate movement or add challenge to the session.
